Chow-Chow

Aayusha lives in Pokhara. She is an independent girl, working as a freelance journalist.

Everything is fine for certain years. Later she thinks that she should advance in her career and this can only happen if she comes to the capital city of Nepal - Kathmandu.

Her relatives reside in Lazimpat but Aayusha doesn't want to stay with them.

She knew about many lives being broken when she was a child. Her mom and dad fought and later they got divorce and eventually they lived a single callous life; they never tried to reconcile and lived just to survive. Aayusha was taken by her mom to her maternal home.

She goes through mental changes by watching the same thing for most of the time.

In the place where she lives, even a relative wouldn’t come for help. There is a rooted perception that if they help them, then they’ll have to face the problem by themselves.

Aayusha grew up in that environment and she isn’t at any cost, wants to live with her relatives, as her behavior is like a tomboy and she feels like she would get indulged in fight with others and sooner or later will have to live alone.

She doesn't want to get involved in any close relationship as she fears the heartache that comes when a dear one leaves; alone, in the mid-path of life.

So, for that reason she opts to live in an apartment, alone.

She comes to Kathmandu and looks for the apartment. She buys it at Rs 55 lakhs.

She purchases and arranges all the necessities that she would need in her apartment.

It’s her first day of arrival at her newly bought apartment. She feels tired as from the early morning she was busy arranging all the materials. She feels hungry.

She prepares Chow-Chow as a dinner.

By the time she ends up cleaning the utensils it's 11:30 pm. Her eyes are tired. She feels exhausted and thinks of going to bed.

She cleans her bed sheet and is ready to jump into bed.

As she was about to turn off the light, the light went off. She peeks out from her window; nothing can be seen except the half moon, the entire apartment looks scary, the dog’s barks.

She thinks of turning off the light, but feels lazy and thinks of going to bed as it is.

As she pulls the blanket she hears someone ringing her doorbell. It is 12:30 am.

After a few minutes; Again the doorbell rings.

The entire room is dark. She tries to ignore the doorbell and becomes quiet, suddenly her cell phone rings. She is afraid and nervous and this time all her bravery turns cowardly. She looks in her cell phone and it's from an unknown number, so she doesn't pick the call.

After some minutes there lies a silence. She tries to sleep covering her face with a blanket. She looks in her watch and the clock shows 1:00 am.

As she hides herself into the blanket she hears some unusual sound coming from her bed. She tries to sneak but cannot see anything due to gloominess. She senses something on her body; she tries to remove it and happens to catch the antennae of a cockroach and eventually shouts and throws immediately. She gets up from her bed and cries due to fear.

This time her heartbeat runs faster and is afraid than before. She tries to drink water and searches for a glass, but due to darkness the glass slips from her hand and it breaks into pieces.

She can't figure out where the glass broke, she takes her small steps; sadly she gets cut at her foot from that broken glass. Her foot bleeds. She cries loud due to pain but can't call any other person for help. Blood can be seen coming from her foot. She nervously takes out the broken pieces of the glass and puts it at a safer place. Luckily she gets a cloth and cleans the wound. Slowly she ties the cloth on her foot, which helps to control bleeding.

Again she cleans the bed sheet and goes to bed.

It’s already 2:30 am. The light hasn’t come. She juggles to sleep but can't. She hears different unusual sounds coming.

She opens her drawer and takes out a sleeping medicine and swallows it with water. Slowly she closes her eyes.

She is traumatized as she sees someone coming nearer towards her with a mask covering his face and carrying a thick cloth on his hand.

She perceives that person is coming nearer to kill her.

She shouts but all in vain. She sees in his eyes and struggles hard to get away from him. She feels that she recognizes that person but cannot figure out clearly who actually he is.

She struggles a lot; hits him and runs away and hides somewhere, where that person can't spot her, but the chase is all in its way to kill her.

Suddenly from the place where she was hiding, a tall man covering his face with a mask comes and thumps her with a stone.

Abruptly, she wakes up. Her clothes are wet due to sweat. She wipes her face.

It's already 5 o’clock in the morning.

She checks her leg and it's fine. There is no wound or blood. She thanks god and prays not to show these kinds of horrible dreams again but as she sees in her mobile phone she notices the same unknown number.

Her body sweats. She consoles herself saying, it's just a dream and nothing more else than these.

As she gets up to go to the bathroom she sees a broken glass and on a wall it was written with blood “YOU WILL BE KILLED BY A CHOW-CHOW...”

THE END
