Blue Print Imagination

Someone has an imagination and a blueprint

————

Late in the afternoon the zebra closed his eyes, then reopened them to see Becky Sue slide the wooden door, “Gosh,” the child gasped marching into the stall area, “there you are standing one foot on Paulie’s side and the other,” she took a breath. “Princess Lida’s.”

Watching the youngster come closer, the zebra thought maybe he could snag a treat or two, “you know what your royal highness did at school today?”

Staying silent the zebra waited for an answer, “told me I had a wild imagination, thinking that I made up stories about her.”

Taking the hint, all Becky Sue brought in was hot air instead of carrots, the zebra headed back to the feeding bucket disappointed.

“She thought I told the school newspaper about some spy like secret blueprint plans were stored in her basement inside the castle Paulie’s Poppa built for her,”

“Have you seen, Paulie?” Becky Sue finally asked not hearing a response, “your impossible.”

Leaving the scene Becky Sue allowed the zebra to transition his attention to eating, until a few minutes later Princess Lida entered, “that Becky Sue thinks I have secret blue prints hidden in a place in the castle. I just spent the entire after school periods meeting with the school newspaper. She has some nerve!”

“Have you seen Paulie?” Princess Lida finally asked not hearing a response, “your impossible.”

Watching Princess Lida storm out the zebra quietly returned to his private thoughts then suddenly a noise interrupted the scene. Emerging from the tack area, an adolescent boy holding a cylinder, “Paulie did you get the blue prints from Princess Lida’s father?” Poppa shouted from the darkness.

Finding a trunk, Paulie pulled out the container’s contents and spread it across the makeshift table, “Poppa this took a lot of imagination,” Paulie noted studying the plans, “newspaper at school is on to something. Got the girls to talk,”

“Tell them great job,” Poppa smiled, complementing the curious, “we all need an imagination, royals always dream up some fantasy like a villager having the right shoe size or the gypsy putting a pea inside the mattress.”

“What about us?” Paulie questioned, “do we need an exciting story to spin and tell?”

“Some aristocrats do but me and you, we have these secret blueprints, and they may give us an idea of what is going on,” Poppa mentioned,

“They were designed by Princess Lida’s Father who has an imagination,” Paulie added searching for a good plot to build an entertaining foundation for a nice dinner time tale to tell Momma.
