A Witch’s Riches…
A Witch’s Riches (in 100 words)
Revisiting the Hansel and Gretel story in rhyme.
————
Here’s the true story—no crumb has been faked.
The witch filled her pantry, each cookie was flaked,
but this witchly rich fare left her cravings unslaked.
This day was her natal—it often proved fatal!
For her, a great oven is where she would shove in
lost children who came (who were told it’s a game),
so Hansel and Gretel were gingerly baked,
but instead of wry bread, they were both birthday caked.
Their father had followed—she stomped, the earth quaked—
and once he was swallowed, her appetite slaked,
the witch in her birthday suit flew around naked!
