I Swear I Will...

I Swear I Will Write Next Time

I wonder

How wonderful it would be

If only I narrated ‒

The fragrance of cloying jasmine,

Hanging in the air;

The wildness of the insects,

Fluttering around the light;

The coquettish liberties of the fish,

Pecking stone under the water;

The untiring spirit of the river,

Pulsing through the darkness;

The ruby smiles of the street dogs,

Wagging tails at the familiar neighbors ‒

In my poetry.

But, sometimes

Unavoidable family responsibilities,

Sometimes quest for a proper mood,

Reinforced by the sluggishness,

Stab my emotions, perceptions, spirit.

I swear to write later on!
