Grey Thoughts

I Am Me

Don't try to fix me for

I am not broken,

Perhaps not as you

Would have me be,

No longer strong, fast,

Gray threads my hair,

Staring into the

Distance as I relive my

Past, lost in memories

Of what once was,

Grant me the peace of

My years as I dance

Alone in imagined arms,

Inside my mind is a

Lifetime of wisdom

Gained by living and

Learning valued not

In your gold but in

Events you can only

Read about should

You care to, no

Longer sprightly youth

Does not signify ready

To be placed in a

Warehouse of undusted

Relics, see me, hear me

Or let me be but do

Not try to replace me

With newer models

Looking finer in your

Eyes, one day soon

You will all sit in

My place and perhaps

Then understand.
