Grey Thoughts

Hello, Young Friend

I have lived many more

Years than you, young

Person, walked a longer

Path, my journey has fewer steps remaining

For sure, or perhaps not,

Who knows for sure, I

Hear different music yet

I still dance in my life,

My heart has many more

Miles on its beating skin,

These eyes are dimmed

But see very clearly into

Your soul and mine,

Upon my bent shoulders

I carry an accumulation

Of life's experience, the

Lines upon my visage

Are a map of my smiles

And laughter, creaks and

Cracks in my body leak

The remains of

Unfulfilled hopes and

Broken dreams, perhaps

You can pick up a few

Pieces to make your

Own, if you look under

My silver hair, you may

Find a treasure store of

My memories, feel free

To sift through if you

Wish, advice I cannot

Give you for your own

Lifetime will be unique

To you, I wish you fair

Winds though and may

You live in exciting

Times.
