Best Place To Grow Up

In front of the houses

Where I grew up was

A magical playground,

Paved in asphalt it was

A roller skating rink,

Go cart track, ice

Hockey arena complete

With nets, kids yelling,

"Car" to signal players

To move to the side,

The Tardis landed on it

Once, Batman, ghosts

And goblins walked it

Door to door, trick or

Treat, it was a dead end

Street so we cobbled

Together a basketball

Net and shot hoops,

Annoyed some folks

With the noise of kick

The can, sat around an

Old radio each Saturday

Afternoon to catch the

Top 20 tunes, parents

Always knew where

Their kids were,

Hollered out the front

Door to come for

Supper, some days I still

Drive down by my old

House, drawn by

Childhood memories

Made there on that

Street.
